Reminders and requests for House Dreamland
I'm posting this because I realized that I've never had the house rules of, frex, the Observatory clearly laid out for me, and that sort of thing can be very useful.

* If you put it away in the fridge or freezer, please label it, even if you're absolutely sure you'll eat it tomorrow.

* If you open something marked "use or freeze by [date]", please make sure that if it isn't used by that date, it gets frozen. (If you want to play it absolutely safe, freeze it right away; this is not ideal but is definitely better than throwing out something that's been left in the fridge longer than it should have been.)

* Please don't put dirty dishes over by the dishrack. It gets exceedingly confusing in very short order. Dirty dishes go in or to the right side of the sink.

* Dishes piling up in the sink appears inevitable until we get the much-heralded dishwasher. Therefore, please try to make sure that there is at least enough room under the tap for someone to get a glass of water.

* Please rinse out--or, where applicable, fill with water and leave to soak--dirty plates, bowls, pans, etc. Please do NOT leave wooden utensils or sharp cutting implements in standing water.

* If it has a colored label and you finish it, please replace it as soon as possible. If it doesn't have a colored label and you finish it, please put it on the shopping list.

* Please remember that the cat loves to nibble on leftovers that may or may not be good for him, and will happily knock over a glass to get at water in the bottom; compost anything that doesn't get refrigerated, and empty glasses in the sink before leaving them on the wash-me side of the counter.

* If you wash and dry it, please fold it. Please don't leave it in the dryer for someone else to find and wrestle with. Please, please don't leave it heaped on the dryer or folding table where it will get knocked onto the litterbox and need to get washed all over again. This goes double for small items like socks and underwear. If you're really in a rush, at least toss those into the blue basket under the clothes rack.

* Please don't leave wet towels sitting on floors, beds, etc. Hang them up in the bathroom or put them in the hot wash hamper (closest to the stairs) downstairs.

* If a kitchen towel gets clumps of food or food-related material stuck to it, please extricate and compost them before tossing the towel into the hot wash hamper.

* If you see that the upstairs hamper is full, please distribute its contents among the hampers downstairs. This will also ensure that its contents get washed sooner.

That's all off the top of my head, but I'm sure the other locals could probably think of a few to contribute. What are the rules of your house?

getting hold of my belt from dreamland
So - several months ago a belt of mine ended up in Jen's care. The one I've been using has ratted out in the last week to the point that it needs replaced. If convenient, I'd rather get the other one back than have to go out and buy a new one right away. Anybody coming over to sunset_and_port tonight that could bring it with?

dangerpudding, we still need to sort out our tomorrow, but would hitting housedreamland on our way out of town fit with your vision?

A realization and a request
It took two and a half weeks, but it happened. I finally fell apart, right there on the living room floor of the Observatory.

I've been telling people that I'm able to do a lot of things on my own, and that the things I need help with the most are transportation and finances, and those seem to be holding up.

I realized there's something else I need, and it's the most important of all. It's also the scariest thing for me to ask for.

The best thing you can give me right now is the gift of your time, attention, and affection. I miss having dates with y'all. I hope you can find room in your various busy schedules to accommodate my request.

I've been holding myself together to, well, save all y'all from me. I've been operating on the principle that y'all have enough issues to deal with, and that dealing with me would be just too much. So I isolated myself, and you respected my request for space.

I forgot to rescind that.

I need your emotional support. Please.

Request for transportation to appointments
Turns out that my chiro will keep seeing me while I am laid up. The sessions I have where I can't reciprocate with our usual trade, I will pay by working on my chiro's partner. This is a huge relief to me.

So, the appointments as they stand are:

Th 26 Feb at 1200: Chiropractic Appointment on University Ave. in Berkeley

Fr 27 Feb at 1430: Orthopaedist Appointment on Valencia in SF

Would any of you be available and willing to help me get to either of these appointments?

I greatly appreciate everything all y'all have done and continue to do for me, and I greatly look forward to the day I can give back to you.

Marriage Activism Monday Morning
Shamelessly stolen from wintersweet's bay area filter, the text of a flyer she got at City Hall yesterday:

A Message from Mayor Newsom

Congratulations to all of you!
San Francisco is proud of all of you!
City Hall is open this weekend to allow your brothers and sisters the same opportunity to exchange their vows
Please come and volunteer so we can expedite the process and marry as many couples as humanly possible.

We need volunteers to do data entry, verify identification, and help ensure the application forms are properly filled out.

If you are interested, please show up on the Grove Street side of City Hall at 9 AM sharp on Sunday & Monday and staff will bring you up to ROOM 201 for a brief training and assignment.

We wish all of you a happy and healthy life together.

So far, Laura, Sarah, Bryan, Mik, and Kathleen are going. Are you?

Hi Everyone...

Thought this might be handy, at least in referring to the group. Was annoyed after typing the whole thing... Yeah, well, right, here it is. Complain to me, if there are complaints.
